The Governors wish to appoint an enthusiastic and experienced Subject Leader for Computing on a permanent basis. Applications for both full-time or part-time working will be considered.   

Key Responsibilities:  

  • Lead and manage the Computing department, including curriculum planning and assessment. 

  • Develop and implement innovative teaching strategies to engage and inspire students. 

  • Monitor and evaluate student progress, providing targeted support where necessary. 

  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes equality and diversity. 

  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the overall educational experience for students. 

  • Organise and lead extra-curricular activities related to Computing. 

  • Stay up-to-date with the latest developments in Computing education and integrate them into the curriculum. 

 

Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in Computer Science or a related field. 

  • Proven experience in teaching Computing and GCSE Computer Science at secondary level. 

  • Ability to program in a high-level language, ideally Python 

  • Strong leadership and management skills. 

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 

  • A commitment to continuous professional development and a passion for education.

The salary is Qualified Teachers pay scale (MPS / UPS) £31,650 to £49,084 plus £3,391 (TLR2a).

The Governors wish to appoint a well-qualified, talented, committed and inspiring Teacher of Technology, full-time FTE from September 2025.

Design Technology and Food Preparation and Nutrition sit within the Technology faculty and benefit from a whole school ethos where the creative subjects are highly valued. This translates into a generous allocation of curriculum time. Design Technology and Food Preparation and Nutrition are both very popular subjects at KS4. We are fortunate to have a range of up-to-date resources and facilities to support the delivery of the subject including 3D printers, 2D design software, and a laser cutter. Our teaching kitchens were renovated in 2017. We have two full time technicians to support the delivery of both these subject areas.

Our KS4 offer includes, GCSE Design Technology, GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition and GCSE Art Textiles, and BTEC Home Cooking Skills. Our exam results are consistently good, and we aspire to increase the range of courses that we offer at KS4. We are proud of the success that our SEND students experience in our subject area. Inclusive teaching is a strong feature of our department. The school is proud of its outstanding CPD program, and you will be encouraged to develop your career both within the subject area, and within the wider school community.

The successful applicant will: 

  • have a commitment to high expectations, with the ability to inspire and challenge students
  • develop targeted learning resources to support the diverse make-up of the student body
  • have an excellent knowledge of, and ability to apply current Health and Safety good practice in technology teaching
  • have a proven track record of impacting upon students' learning
  • have the ability to teach Design Technology at KS3 and KS4. Food Preparation and Nutrition at KS3
  • have ability to use a range of CAD software
  • have a clear understanding of current and future curriculum developments
  • have excellent interpersonal skills. 
  • hold the attributes to be a strong form tutor
  • hold Qualified Teacher Status.

The salary grade is Teachers Main/Upper Pay Scale £31,650 to £49,084.  Applications from experienced and early career teachers are encouraged.

Student Welfare and Attendance Assistant

The Governors wish to appoint a Student Welfare and Attendance Assistant.   The successful applicant will be responsible for administering First Aid support as appropriate to the pupils of the school and where necessary the staff, as well as to support, monitor and improve pupil attendance and wellbeing.

It is desirable that applicants hold a Level 3 Award in First Aid at Work or equivalent and training will be provided to applicants who do not hold this qualification.  You will work closely with the House Heads and will be based in the school’s Pastoral Office alongside the Attendance Officer.

The hours of work are 37 hours a week Monday to Thursday 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. and 3.30 pm. on Fridays (term time plus inset days).  If you would prefer to work less than 37 hours a week, please indicate on your application form your preferred hours and days of work. 

The actual salary is £21,623 to £21,965 a year for 37 hours a week term time (plus inset days) Monday to Friday (40 working weeks, 46.20 paid weeks a year).  The salary is based on Single Status, Grade 4, spinal points 9 to 10, £24,404 to £24,790.

The Governors wish to appoint a Teaching Assistant, fixed term until July 2026 to work in the main school site experienced in working with students with Special Educational Needs.  The post involves providing dedicated support to individuals and groups of students.  An ideal candidate would have some experience of working with students with Dyslexia and/or Speech and Language difficulties.  An interest in supporting students with Maths would be an advantage but not essential.

The hours of work are 30 hours a week Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m. to 3.15 p.m. (term time plus inset days).  If you would prefer to work less than 30 hours a week, please indicate on your application form your preferred hours and days of work.

A dedicated and flexible person to undertake the role of Cover Supervisor, who in the absence of a class teacher, will supervise students in the school or department under the supervisory arrangements established by the school.  An interest in education and the ability to deliver ideas and concepts to an audience of young people would be desirable. 

This is an ideal opportunity if you are looking to become a teacher in the future and want experience of a secondary education setting or are passionate about working in schools.
